Editorial Policy

Our standard

Accuracy and honesty come first. We would rather show a wide, truthful range than a precise-looking number we cannot support.

Sources

  • Physical constants and formulas come from published gemological references (such as the International Gem Society and the USGS) and jewelry trade references for diamond weight estimation.
  • Each value is checked against at least two independent sources where possible. Values that cannot be confirmed are labelled approximate on the site and in the data.
  • Where sources disagree, we keep both values, use the spread to widen our ranges, and explain the choice on the How we calculate page.

How numbers reach the page

We do not type chart values by hand. A single formula engine generates every calculator result, every chart and every figure quoted in our articles at build time. Automated tests check the engine against reference cases and check that charts match the calculators exactly.

Writing

  • Content is original and written in plain language for non-experts.
  • We do not copy text, tables, images or layouts from retailers or other sites.
  • We do not publish fake reviews, invented statistics, invented credentials or badges implying approval by any lab or organisation.
  • First-hand seller tips, where they appear, come from Osama Niazi's own experience and are labelled as such.

Independence and advertising

Advertising, if shown, never influences our data or content. Affiliate links are not used at launch. If added later, they will be clearly disclosed where they appear.
